Awarded to businesses that excel in manufacturing, the Power Manufacturing Award honors those who are mastering the principles and processes that make manufacturing great.
We recently received the first-ever Power Manufacturing Award from Powerblanket. Awarded to businesses that excel in manufacturing, the Power Manufacturing Award honors those who are mastering the principles and processes that make manufacturing great. As a company that holds our manufacturing practices to a high standard, we’re humbled to receive the company’s first award.
“We feel honored to be recognized as a leading manufacturer by another quality Utah manufacturer in our state. This program is an excellent example of the collaborative spirit that exists in Utah to helps us build our businesses and our economy to greater heights,” said Derek Glade.
“After some research, it was easy to see that was a great fit for the award. They have a great tradition, culture, and they don't fit the mold of what people usually associate with a "manufacturing" company,” said James Rogers, Digital Marketing Manager at Powerblanket. “Taffy Town has continually stood out from the rest of the winners because of the uniqueness of what they do as well as the history of how they got to where they are today.”
But an honor like this doesn’t come without a team of leaders supporting you and we wouldn’t be anything without ours. From the culture our workers have created to the principles they teach, our team is made up of some of the most effective leaders in the industry.
It continually astounds us to see that our small team of around 50 employees are able to churn out over 20,000 pounds of taffy a day. Not only do they help us with the day-to-day tasks, but are there for the big moments like last year’s big move to our new facilities in West Jordan, UT.
Along with our outstanding employees, we have a history that’s taught us a thing or two. For over 100 years we’ve been perfecting our craft and with over 70 flavors on our belt, and we’re excited to see how far we’ve come.
It’s exciting to see how we’ve pushed our manufacturing business forward after we were awarded UMA’s Manufacturer of the Year Award in 2016. Now, we hope to take that same spirit into the next month and every month after that.
“Derek was kind enough to take us on a tour through the plant, and we all had a blast! When we tasted the taffy fresh off the line we were hooked,” said Rogers. “We really enjoyed seeing the manufacturing processes and how they were both similar and different to the processes at Powerblanket."
Powerblanket
Powerblanket is a leading example of the type of manufacturing spirit we crave to see in Utah. Working side-to-side with businesses like these, we hope to see Utah grow even more. The type of creative spirit their team exudes will create more jobs, new technology, and take this state to the next level.
“Manufacturing is rarely thought of when people talk about small business success and entrepreneurship, which is a shame since there are so many amazing small manufacturing operations going on throughout the state. From taffy and donuts to outdoor gear and bespoke home decor, Utah has a great story to tell in the manufacturing industry,” said Rogers.
